Xmas day. Head up to Alreoch to spend a wonderful Xmas day lunch with gryphon_nz's parents and my dad. As always, I love spending time with them, and I love spending time at Alreoch. *Everyone* should have such cool parents-in-law. Jean made a wonderful (and healthy!) feast, and I managed to stick to my decision to enjoy myself foodwise without letting myself go seven shades of crazy and feel as though I'd overdone it afterwards. Headed back down to Auckland mid-afternoon, and had an Xmas-lewt unwrapping ceremony in the lounge with Donald to reveal the following: - A pair of gorgeous deep blue earrings from Donald (OK, this was actually received on Solstice, but I include it in here anyway) - A wooden planter with various vegetables and herbs for planting (and some potting mix with a ribbon and bow - a lovely touch) from Jean & Ian - A Spike calendar from alphadsnz_fb- A book on bedroom feng shui from hiddendenim- A beautiful black-on-white tile with a celtic knot that reflects the design on our wedding rings from debxena- Three silk red-and-gold cushion covers from neongraalSpent much of the afternoon and evening reading... got through Crimson City by Liz Maverick (silly vamp romance fluff in an LA of the future which the vamps are the good guys and the soulless human slayers are Teh Evil), and started on the one Barbara recommended - Dark Lover by JR Ward. Had to be forced to put the latter down when the hour got late... oh dear gods, Barbara really, really has my tastes pegged! Tags: alreoch, books, gifts
