Today was made of awesome at work on two fronts:

- I had another ad fully approved by the Aussie regulatory authority (go me!), and

- I had an e-mail back from the PR agency for whom I prepared the 4-page brief last week stating that they thought it was extremely well-written, and that they found it a "pleasure working with my material"

I shall take this, then, as a successful week overall as work-weeks go.

(Also? I tried out one of my wee free samples of one of the Avon shampoos today and I find myself seriously impressed. I'm loving how it's left my scalp feeling - normally I have to pay salon shampoo prices for something that works this well, and generally *they're* not cruelty-free products. So yay... will definitely be buying a bottle of that when my current one runs out)

... having important!stuff to do and procrastinating on it for weeks at a go. It's a vicious cycle: I don't have the energy for something, so I put it off; and the longer I put it off, the more it saps at my energy.

I know this, of course; but knowing it and actually having the grit and smarts to kick myself up the arse and get on with it are different things.

This weekend, though, I decided enough was enough. Excuses were just excuses, and I needed to get moving on no less than four major things (aside from study and sorting out Assignment 1) that I'd been procrastinating on over the past month (Optimum Life 06-07 financial stuff, Kiwisaver stuff, passport renewal stuff, and sorting out blurb to send to [info]darth_sappho about the panels/discussions I'm meant to be leading at ConJunction), and it was time to do something about them. So this morning has been spent:

- Sorting through and filing the past year's bank statements and other 'must keep' correspondence - Poring through said bank statements to confirming that no further credits had gone through for my business after the point I told my accountant that it had ceased trading
- Tracking down my interest and RWT figures for the 06-07 financial year
- Double checking the actual dates my passports expire (I thought it was this year, but no, neither of them expire till 2009, so I don't need to do anything with them and can stop worrying about it)
- Gone through my Kiwisaver stuff and realised that the form I'd spent time last year tracking down wasn't in there, so I'm going to have to get another copy of it :-(

So that now leaves me with:
- Writing the blurb for my panels (I should get to that this afternoon)
- Sorting out Kiwisaver, damnit (once Gryphon has re-procured the form)
- Getting on with study (gulp)

And then, mes amis? I think I'm going to escape into the world of Atlantis for an episode or two. After Gryphon and I have been out to sort out our errands for the day, anyway.

Hugs and trying-to-get-organised-blessings

Starfires worked from home today, and it was all good.

See, in the aftermath of the 2-hour-sleep-and-boxing-training fiasco yesterday, Starfires noticed themselves coughing, sniffling, and generally appearing to be not so much 'under the weather', as being some miles down, looking up at all that weather happening way up there above them.

And lo, Starfires said to themselves - "Well, this sucks. I must do something about it. Also, I must not spread any lurgy I may be developing to my workmates."

And so they did, and they didn't, respectively. And really, it was all good.

And the tally for the day?
  • Slept in till 7.45, meaning I almost got 10 hours' sleep last night. We're talking serious luxury here
  • Finished collating all the conference feedback from assorted staff, and got that sent off to my co-organiser
  • Edited the major section of website copy I finished last week, and got that split and sent out to the various staff bods who need to content-check it
  • Wrote 2/3 of the next major section of copy.

So yeah. Right now, I'm feeling virtuous and productive, and like I've definitely managed to justify having spent my day at home, from a results point of view.

This are a good feeling!

Hugs and productive blessings

Getting to work at 7am because one knows one will take a long lunch hour in order to go beat up inanimate objects is all good.

Discovering, once one has got to work, that one doesn't actually remember one's alarm code (and that one is, for the first time in living memory, the first person on the premises) is not so good.

Discovering further, that even did one have the alarm code, one lacks the physical key that unlocks the front door (as indeed, does the first co-worker to arrive after one)? At this point, one wonders if the universe is trying to tell one something.

So yes. Regretfully, I must report that Operation Start-Work-at-7am? Plan was FAIL.

However, I did manage to start at an only slightly less respectable 7.15, so all wasn't lost.

AND managed to organise for Storm to have her passenger headlight replaced (it apparently blew within a couple of weeks of getting her WOF - I didn't even realise it had gone till Gryphon pointed it out to me)

And I've managed to get two full pages of the new website written, and set up the stuff I need to for the next two, and organised the mailing list addresses for the prospect newsletter I need to get out at the beginning of next month. Productivity has occurred, yo.

So all up, today hasn't been too bad, really. (Also? It was [info]allova's first day today, and lovely_receptionist thinks she's about the best thing since sliced bread! w00h00!)
